Hochschulviertel (University Area)

The new "Hochschulviertel" is located North of the City of Rheinbach. The "Hochschulviertel" has a total size of about 40 hectares - including attractive living-units. Technological enterprises will find optimal conditions in the environment of the FH-Bonn-Rhein-Sieg (University of Applied Sciences) campus, and the Innovation and Technology Centre (gtz).

An open-space plan together and a regional development plan provide the basis for the development of this area. The project is described in a report by the "LEG Landesentwicklungsgesellschaft Nordrhein-Westfalen GmbH", a development office for the state. Areas of 2.000 to 8.000 square metres are possible. The site coverage factor (SCF) is 0,6. The planning concept provides a compact development with buildings only two to three storeys high.

The expected synergy effects for the leading sectors glass, ceramics and new materials should be optimal at the Rheinbach site. Administration buildings and service firms should also find a home here, and should be able optimally to exploit the situation in Rheinbach.
