The Innovation and Technology Centre (gtz) at the Rheinbach site was established in 1996. The interesting architecture, with the glass foyer and distinctive form, sets a structural accent in the new university quarter. Owner of the gtz is the wfeg.
The gtz is mainly available to innovative founders of new business as a start-up centre for business growth. A typical newly founded company in the gtz is "mz robotics laboratory GmbH", which recently won the prize as the best start-up firm in North-Rhine-Westphalia.
This is an example of successful young management in Rheinbach, a confirmation of the faith placed in the gtz by the City of Rheinbach and the State of North Rhine Westphalia.
Additional confirmation is provided by the high demand for accommodation in the gtz: At present 92 percent of the space is occupied!
197 people are currently employed here, which is the largest industrial complex in Rheinbach.
Young enterprises will find optimal conditions in the gtz. Start up enterprises receive optimal support service on 6960 square metres of available land, including variable office-space, laboratory and other working facilities.
A rent subsidy of up to 50 percent is possible for the leading sectors glass, ceramics and new materials The special technological facilities are available (scanning electron microscope, universal material tester) as support for new firms. The architecture and infrastructure of the gtz permit optimum conditions for young start-up firms, including lecture- and conference rooms, a canteen and the proximity of the college of technology. The gtz is proud of the high level of acceptance of these facilities by the firms under its roof.
All founders of new business are informed and advised comprehensively about support programmes available on the market. Organized courses and workshops are provided as introduction. Further consultation with professional external specialists can also be provided.
